5000-year-old writing tablets, historical typing machines and computers, the first PCs and the latest software developments are all on display at the Heinz Nixdorf Museumsforum (HNF) in Paderborn. The HNF is the largest computer museum in the world and features in the Guinness Book of Records. The 6000m² exhibition area concentrates not only on the history of information technology but also the latest developments in computer games and the software field.
The exhibitions are complemented by an extensive range of events such as presentations, discussions and conferences focussing on information technology in contemporary society. The HNF is an active advocate of a thematically and chronologically flexible exhibition programme. It thus looks forward to concentrating on innovations in the field of information technology in future special exhibitions, during which all attention will be focussed on the bright future of this communicative medium.
Children and young people are also encouraged to participate in the museum's educational programme. Counting with abacuses, T-shirt printing, writing in code and learning about ciphers as well as many other activities are all on offer here in the museum. Additionally, guided tours can be provided for both young and old.
